Designed as a collaboration between artists and automobile, Traffic Circles is a performative intervention inside a utilitarian passenger van, constructed for our annual Wintertime art-making marathon The Hibernation Project, responding to the weekly theme, CAR SHOW: art in trunks, back seats, and truck beds.
Using velocity, orientation, displacement, and equilibrium to create generative drawings inside the body of the 2001 Mazda MPV, Traffic Circles is activated when the vehicle is moving, translating stops, turns, and bumps in the road into procedural compositions.

The resulting drawings are static manifestations of motion occuring in one of two colour schema: classic black or red, amber, and green.
